Kim's work explores themes of escapism, imagination, and altered realities, often inspired by her personal experience with U.S. visa restrictions, which prevented her from traveling internationally. Instead of seeing this as a limitation, she embraced it as a creative opportunity, constructing new realities through digital manipulation.
Her signature aesthetic blends ordinary urban and suburban scenes with fantastical elements—soft clouds, vibrant skies, and reflective surfaces—creating visual "portals" to an alternate world. Through this process, she transforms the mundane into something ethereal, evoking a sense of longing and transcendence.
Kim’s work has been exhibited internationally and featured in publications such as TIME. The New York Times, Dazed, i-D, and The New Yorker. She continues to push the boundaries of photography, using digital techniques to reimagine space, memory, and perception.
